Can poodles make good bird dogs? 
- You bet! My poodles love to hunt and retrieve.These babies are learning about retrieving..wing work!
The Poodle was historically a "versatile hunting dog", traditionally a loyal partner trapping waterfowl with nets. Poodles are easily trained for flushing, retrieving and as a water dogs for waterfowl and upland game firearms hunters alike. Poodles are highly competative in field, obedience, and agility trials and are used as service dogs for the disabled. Poodles have been used as sled dogs and even raced in the Iditarod for John Suter.
- Is it hard to teach a poodle to retrieve?
No, we start our pups out retrieving wings, always keeping things happy, fun and short. We build from simple games and advance into difficult retrieving as adults. Poodles are very smart and love to please you.

Our dogs have been trained on upland game birds. We have not introduced them to duck hunting but they love to swim. We have trained duck dogs and we know they would take to it ..well like a duck to water!! Poodles can do it all with a Bonus, no shedding and "dog" smell in the house!
